Sweden Loses: Ibrahimovic Will Watch World Cup

Soccer is the most popular sport on Earth. The championship of soccer is called the World Cup, and it is played every four years. This year, the World Cup will be played in Brazil.

Portugal and Sweden recently played a qualifying match to enter the World Cup. Two of the world’s greatest players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, played in this game. Ronaldo plays for Portugal, and Ibrahimovic plays for Sweden. This game was special because it meant one of them, the loser, would not go to the World Cup.

Portugal and Sweden played two games. The team that scored the most goals would play in the World Cup. Ronaldo scored four times and Ibrahimovic scored two times. Portugal won, which meant Ibrahimovic would not be playing in the World Cup. He announced after the game he would not travel to Brazil.

This was a sad moment for Ibrahimovic. He is 32 years old. He will be too old to play in the next World Cup. He said it is only fun to watch the World Cup when he is playing in it. The whole soccer world was unhappy that the World Cup would not have Ibrahimovic playing. He plays with creativity and passion. Soccer fans around the world love him.

Many Brazilian celebrities made an online video. It was named #VEMIBRA. The celebrities asked Ibrahimovic to travel to Brazil and watch the World Cup. Dani Alves is a Brazilian. He plays for Barcelona. He asked Ronaldo to come to the games. Ibrahimovic posted on his Twitter account that he would change his plans. He will be going to Brazil this summer.
