The Democratic Party knows how important the Latino vote was to the reelection of President Obama. It has named Henry R. Muñoz III to be the finance chair of the Party. He is the first Latino to be chosen.

Mr. Muñoz worked with attorney Andres Lopez and actress Eva Longoria to raise more than $30 million for President Obama through the Futuro Fund. This was the first time a presidential campaign targeted donors from the Latino community. Eva Longoria said, “I think we have a permanent seat at the table.”

Mr. Muñoz regards significant fund raising as the final political frontier of the Latino community.

He runs a San Antonio architecture-design firm and said, “I am going to raise a lot of money.” He went on to say, “I have a feeling there are a lot of people who want to invest in the principles of the Democratic Party.”

Until now, Mr. Muñoz has never been to a Democratic National Committee meeting.
