Do we go forward or backward?

Does it matter who the president is? There is a good chance your life will not change. At least not right away. You will still get up in the morning and go to school or work or both. The football,  basketball, and soccer seasons will go forward. Things at home will still be things at home.

Let us take a closer look. There has been a lot of talk about immigrants and Muslims. Many of these people are newcomers to America. They are already here. Neither a fence or a ban will stop the flow of history. It may not be easy to look a foreigner in the face.  You may feel what somebody felt about your great or great-great grandparents. Try empathy.

Think about America. If there is a better land of opportunity, please name it.

The history of America is the long struggle for equality. That meant ending slavery. It meant giving women the right to vote. And workers the right to organize. It has come to mean equality in relationships.

Americans obsess about gun ownership. Why do so many Americans oppose gun safety rules?

Global trade is a reality. Where are the US plans to retrain workers?

Some want to privatize Social Security and Medicare. When did these programs become problems?

Sometimes the states are great places to conduct experiments. But what about states that want to make voting hard. Or states that want to deny health care given by Medicaid? Or states that want to make abortion a crime?

Let’s ask the question again. Does it matter who is president? Donald Trump could lead the nation into chaos.

Does it matter who is president? You bet it does. Vote for Hillary Clinton.
