The recent campaign saw a new group emerge. It is the ‘alt-right’ movement. Alt-right is a white nationalist movement. Its goal is to make sure America stays a “white” country. The movement believes is has found a champion in Donald Trump.
This is not to say that Mr. Trump is racist.
Many alt-right members admire Nazi Germany. Some salute with their arms extended, as did the Nazis. They use the German phrase, “Lügenpresse,” which means, “lying press.” They use German-like words such as “Heil the people! Heil victory!”
One reason they support Trump is his view of immigrants. The alt-right favors deporting the undocumented. They go a step further. They want to deport their American-born children. These children are American citizens.
Their leader said, “America was, until this last generation, a white country. It was designed for ourselves and our posterity.” It is our creation. It belongs to us.”
The leader spoke about minorities. “We do not exploit other groups, we do not gain anything from their presence. They need us, and not the other way around.”
The alt-right movement does not always agree with Trump. They believe he is too close to Israel.
The movement does support the hiring of Steve Bannon as an advisor. He comes from the media outlet Breitbart. It is a forum for the far right.
Mr. Trump will reject the racism of the alt-right. He will reject their anti-Semitism.
Still, the alt-right movement sees Trump’s victory as making their movement valid. They believe the moment is right for white supremacists.
Mr. Trump got more of the white vote than experts thought he would get. It is not fair to say Donald Trump is for this movement. It is fair to say this movement is for Donald Trump.
