It was no surprise. Hillary Clinton is the choice of the Democrats to be their presidential candidate. It is an historic event. She is the first woman selected as a candidate for the presidency of the United States.

Global terror is the number one issue on the world’s agenda. The economies of the world and the U.S. are also high priorities. The gender of the president will not be a factor in the solutions.

More women vote in the U.S. than do men. That could be a big advantage for Secretary Clinton. Clinton also has a lead over Donald Trump in other ways. For example, minorities are big supporters of Mrs. Clinton.

Observers say the race for president will be brutal. Donald Trump will say and do anything that he thinks will help him win the presidency.

Bernie Sanders is a senator from Vermont. He also ran for the Democratic nomination. He ran against the rich. His program was to the left of Mrs. Clinton. He has many supporters. Many of his backers are young people. For many of these people, it was their first political campaign.

Hillary Clinton won the contest fair and square. Senator Sanders is endorsing Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy. Many of the Sanders’ people are not happy. Will his supporters now support Mrs. Clinton? That is the big question. This concern is causing a lot of wringing of hands.

A new dispute over emails broke out on Monday. Hackers broke into the Democratic Party’s emails. Some of the emails showed party leaders favoring Mrs. Clinton. Some Sanders supporters say that the process was “rigged.” for Clinton.

It is three months until the election. It may be a bumpy ride for the country.
